Ideal Development Machine Specs

Chat Post Featured Image

Hello Everyone! Today we are going to discuss the specs for your ideal development machine. Do you prefer a desktop or a laptop? How much RAM, hard drive space, CPU, and other resources do you use during normal development? Is it worth it to getting an AI CPU or GPU? AMD or Intel CPU?

Inspired by the fact I need to upgrade my desktop. I only dive into the world of hardware when I need to upgrade, which is every 5 years or so, and just started my research for my new desktop.

Chaos Engineering: How to Save a Trillion-Dollar Ecosystem

Recently, missing data disrupted a trillion-dollar ecosystem. Could chaos engineering have helped?

Complex systems will fail eventually. While Netflix uses chaos engineering to strengthen its systems, many banks do not. The benefits include faster incident responses and greater reliability, but there are risks, such as customer impact and management buy-in.

Is chaos engineering the future, or just for well-resourced companies? What’s your view? Are you running experiments, or is your team too cautious?

Open Source: Democratizing Powerful Tech

96% of software today uses open source code. Tech giants build billion-dollar empires on volunteer-maintained foundations. OpenSSL is encryption software that secures an estimated 66% of web traffic. So the internet runs on code secured by just 18 underpaid engineers.

Open source also has its dark side, like when Meta's AI model leaked to 4chan within a week.

Does democratizing powerful technology also democratize its misuse?
